FAQ

Why are there sometimes variations in the chocolate's taste, texture, appearance, etc?

The simple answer is that we handcraft our chocolates in small batches. Many variables can influence how chocolate will behave. Variations between batches can be caused by temperature and humidity. Sometimes difference are a result of natural variations in the ingredients. For instance, sometimes the coffee we use may vary slightly in roast, or the fresh fruits and vegetables vary in sweetness or heat.

While we strive to make our chocolates consistent from one batch to next, the nature of hand crafted chocolates is the occurrence of subtle variations. We think that these variations make life just a little more interesting.

No. On the contrary, after having our chocolates, you will be more likely to want eat more chocolate than before.

If I want to keep some of your chocolates for a week or more, is it better to refrigerate them, or leave them at room temperature?

During hot and humid months (over 70F), please keep your truffles in tightly sealed ziplock bags before placing into your refrigerator, to prevent any condensation from the fridge interior from affecting the chocolates. This will ensure your truffles stay fresh and delicious much longer, and prevents melting or “blooming” as well.

Our Retailers page lists every place that Missionary Chocolates are sold. If you don’t see a location near you, print the Product Request Form and ask your favorite stores to carry us.

Will you ship to my country?

Yes, if you are willing to pay to have the chocolates packaged and shipped properly. Shipping overseas can take a long time and expose the chocolates to extreme conditions. Because there are no preservatives in our chocolates, these extreme conditions can have a negative effect on our products. Therefore, shipping out of the United States may require additional packaging and postage. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.

What is your shipping policy?

We ship anywhere in the United States. Typically we ship on Thursdays. If you place an order on Thursday, it may not be shipped until the following week. We are happy to expedite your order if you need it quickly. Choose Priority Mail Express shipping (overnight delivery) during checkout and your order will leave our facility within 24 hours Monday through Thursday. Please note that we are closed on Mondays and orders placed on Monday will be received on Tuesday.

We recommend that you choose warm weather shipping if the temperature at your destination is above 75 degrees. While choosing this shipping option will not guarantee against temperature related damage, it is often effective in protecting the chocolate.
